Since October 2019, Walter Chiapponi has been the Creative Director of the Tod's Women’s and Men’s collections, bringing the excellence of Tod’s across an international panorama of Italian quality and style.

It all began in the late 1970s, with a driving shoe and an outsole that included 133 iconic rubber pebbles or “gommini.” In no time, the Gommini became the emblem of Tod's, catching the eyes of connoisseurs from around the world and representing a symbol for handicrafts. With utter care and attention, the Tod's craftsmen reinterpret this icon in a contemporary version that is deconstructed in its form but keeps its unmistakable gommini decorated sole.
The brand's most iconic bag, the Di Bag, introduced in 1997, was an immediate success thanks to its famous clientele. Princess Diana, Naomi Campbell, Nicole Kidman, and Princess Caroline of Monaco are only some of the celebrities who have worn this bag over the last few decades. Boldly reinterpreted today by Creative Director Walter Chiapponi and entirely handcrafted by our artisans, the Di Bag represents the perfect balance between traditional fine craftsmanship, experimentation, and creativity.
Tod’s T Factory
T Factory is Tod’s very own creative lab. It’s a workshop filled with style and experimentation, home to partnerships with some of the world’s most creative talents, who have been asked to interpret the brand based on their personal vision.
The result is limited edition and capsule collections, unique and exclusive partnerships and projects that enable Tod’s to open up its imagination to novel style influences, nurturing new stimuli and surprising outcomes.
Tod's x 8 Moncler Palm Angels
Tod's x 8 Moncler Palm Angels is a limited edition footwear collection, born from an original experimentation that blends a 90s American sports aesthetic with the high quality of Italian craftsmanship. The creative energy and roots in American pop culture of Palm Angels, transform two of Tod’s icons for Moncler Genius: the Gommino and the Tod's W.G. ankle boot. The Tod's stylistic codes have been interpreted by Francesco Ragazzi, Creative Director of Palm Angels, who added unique contrasting elements using detailing and appliqués.
Hender Scheme for Tod's
The Japanese leather footwear brand Hender Scheme, founded by Ryo Kashiwazaki, is the protagonist of the collaboration: ''Hender Scheme X Tod's." The unisex collection combines Hender Scheme's "New Craft" creative approach with the Tod's heritage in an innovative reinterpretation of craftsmanship, design, and authenticity. Starting from the “TOD’S ⇆ DOT’S” concept, the designer conceived a collection that creates an exclusive connection between each one's DNA.
Alessandro Dell’Acqua x Tod’s
Alessandro Dell’Acqua was the first creative talent brought in to launch the T Factory project. The designer created a wardrobe for Tod’s brimming with tactile, sensual elegance, blending sophistication and function in a range of clothes and accessories with a contemporary twist. A marriage of the designer’s signature traits and Tod’s art of leather working, with the inimitable Gommino shoes turned into loafers and new ballet flats featuring velvet bows.
Tod’s Happy Moments by Alber Elbaz
An exclusive partnership that marks Alber Elbaz’s much-awaited return to the full glare of the fashion spotlight. The Israeli couturier’s creations form the Tod’s Happy Moments Collection, a range of bags, shoes and t-shirts for men and women infused with a sense of joy and fun. Based on the premise that shoes are the cars of the future, Elbaz has dreamt up surprising new scenarios for driving shoes, jazzing them up with brilliant colours and giving them aerodynamic lines with sneaker outsoles.
Mame Kurogouchi X Tod’s
Chapter three of the T Factory Project is the capsule collection created with Mame Kurogouchi, up and coming designer selected for her talent and particular passion for traditional Japanese craftsmanship. This limited edition collection translates into a sophisticated wardrobe of essential clothing and accessories, inspired by travel. Timeless elegance and style, together with an ongoing search for absolute quality: the codes at the roots of the Tod’s/ Mame Kurogouchi collaboration.
Technological innovation and artisan excellence combine and take on a new shape in the Tod’s No_Code project, launched in 2018. This hybrid footwear concept anticipates the needs of our modern lifestyles, blending casual elegance and high-tech functions thanks to Tod’s unique know-how. By observing our ever-evolving contemporary lifestyles up-close, Tod’s has forged a tecno-craftsmanship project that keep up with the changing societies.
The face behind the creations is Korean designer Yong Bae Seok, who draws on his past experience in industrial design to permeate No_Code with highly innovative footwear solutions.
